A rare colour photograph of Lieutenant JG, Hill, in whose memory this collection was assembled.

John Henry Hill was born on 10 May, 1904, in Winchester, Middlesex County, Massachusetts to John Adelbert Hill and his wife, Mary Josephine Hill.

Lieutenant JG Hill, serving on board LST531, was killed in action, aged 39, on the 28th April, 1944 during the action with the e-Boats.

Lieutenant JG Hill left a wife, Mrs. Florence Marie Hill, and son, John R, of 10 Wendell Street, Cambridge, Boston, Massachusetts, and is officially recorded as having no known grave.

The Lt. J G John H Hill Collection has been very kindly donated by his niece Beverly Hughes.
